Remains of Life is a one-man band from São Paulo – SP, Brazil founded by musician and producer Jorge Silva in 2019. After small amateur projects among friends, among these, the so-called Illuria and Tribal Blood, Silva decided to create his own way in order to realize his artistic ambitions.
Merging old and new compositions, Remains of Life was conceived around the end of 2018 and beginning of 2019, when Silva started the compositions and recordings in his home. After a lot of work and repeated efforts, Silva completed the band's first work, which is the Pilgrimage album.
Pilgrimage is a partially conceptual work. This does not necessarily narrate events in a story or a character outlined in archetypes, but rather, it is a great junction of progressive feelings, which the author actually felt, and described them in the work; through an imaginative persona playing the role of the conceptual character, creating abstract images to represent the obstacles and nuances of these feelings.
The sound of the album mixes the most varied arrangements of extreme metal. The guitars are presented in striking harmonic lines, and in other aggressive, direct and extremely technical lines; the nylon guitar, a passion of the author, is brilliant and intense in various parts of the work; and the voices range from the most poignant guttural to the most sublime and harmonized melodic.
The project's concept is to narrate feelings and situations under metaphorical perspectives without losing their essence and without these having been necessarily felt and experienced by the author, but also understood and expanded by him; all this through musical art. For this reason, the project was titled Remains of Life, as what is left of a life besides memories and feelings?
